Here's what left as of Sunday, Sept. 9. My bathroom things and the laundry/storage room. I have to take all the windchimes down on the porch and box them up. I hope I don't have to make any more trips to U-Haul for boxes - good grief. I have been a daily customer all week.

The next few days will be crazy! You know when you are changing jobs that means insurance changes - so last week I had my annual physical in order to get all of my prescriptions renewed and in good standing. So that is done. Then Thursday I had my teeth cleaned. I have been having problems with the bottom partial so Tuesday I have to leave that with my dentist for a reline which I go back and pick up on Wednesday - yes - smack in the middle of "load the truck day." OK - yes - my teeth come out!

Then I ordered an external hard drive to be used between my new laptop and my PC for data storage and that is scheduled to arrive Tuesday via UPS. So I will then have to load all of my data on to it before I can tear down my PC for the trip. And the cable guy comes at 7 pm to get all of the Time Warner equipment. But I have movies from Netflix to keep us entertained if need be! I am a bit in crisis mode thinking that is the end of Internet until ?????

The PC and laptop will go with me in my car along with clothes and toiletries necessary for the trip and while waiting for the truck at the other end. Also going in the car are Hobo in his carrier, kitchen necessities like coffee and coffee pot and microwave. Oh, and my self-inflating air mattress and bedding. Like with the truck - I hope it all fits!

Tomorrow night is my little going away party that Cheryl has planned.

Wendy is coming over today to help pack the kitchen and laundry room. If we finish that then all that is left is to dismantle the shelving and wait for the truck (like I will be sitting around waiting!)

Knee Deep in Boxes

I would say I am about half way toward being ready to load my truck a week from today. I have the kitchen, my closet, and my laundry/storage room left to sort and pack.

I am sooooo.. excited! A new job ... a new home ....

Here it is! My new cabin in the woods! My nearest neighbor, Crone Goddess Judith!

I am feeling so blessed!

Deanne

Six Months in Hiding? All excellent. I made a hearty soup with the turnips and rutabegas - also had tomatoes, potatoes, celery, carrots and onions in it. It was yummy and really filling. Stick to your ribs kind of filling.

Third Day of Ice

I am on day three at home after going in on Monday to find out my store was staffed adequately and that there was no need for me to be iced in away from home. Aja was staying anyway because her partner who works in another department was staying.

So I am iced in at home totally prepared to make it up later in the week when it all melts. For those of you who live in colder climates - this is nothing - I know that - but here it is something because most folks have no idea what to do in it. We have what is called "black ice." It is ice you cannot see - the roads look fine but are in fact solid ice!

Now I might and probably could get to work if it were necessary but my store is covered - we are fine and so I am home, toasty and warm. The high today is predicted to be 30 so I do not see a melt for us on this day! I took some pictures this morning. The first is of a small glass planter on my porch meant to hold a small plant in water - there is dead plant material in it (no plant) but the crystal patterns of the ice in it are quite pretty - not sure if this is really clear in the picture.

Next is a lovely oak tree whose branch is on the ground.

Normally you can walk under this branch.

And finally just a shot of the icicles - no big deal - just took the picture!

It would be lovely if we had snow to look at - it certainly would be much prettier!

My weekend with Our Lady of Weight Loss

Yes, I have joined the Kick in the Tush Club. I spent a fabulous weekend with 16 other women who want to have a new relationship with food and Janice Taylor, author of Our Lady of Weight Loss. We spent time talking about our views on food - our views of our "fat" selves - and how we sabotage ourselves and how to find ways to do other things - rather than obsess on our oral fixations!

Yep! Actually, I think I made an interesting observation about myself. I am now exploring how my eating habits might be associated with any feelings I might have about scarcity. I am taking a look at my buying habits - okay confession time here ....

My pantry is so full - there is no way one other thing could fit in it. My fridge is also so full, one is in danger of having their toes crushed with what might fall out. Why do I have so much food in my house? Why do I continue to over buy - over shop? Do I need that much in my house? Would I not be better off learning how to shop and maybe make and adventure out of it - go to the store each day and shop for only 24 hours worth of meals?

That would mean that only staples remain and all the rest is a daily creation. I haven't done it yet - scares me - think there is a message in that? Yep - I do! I did clean out the fridge but I also filled it again yesterday with veggies. All chips are gone - so - I guess I am still only letting go in bits and pieces - but - pat on the back - I am letting go!

I am into week 4 of eating "near" vegetarian. Yesterday I found the first vegetable that I think is horrible tasting. Chinese okra. I put it in my soup and had a taste once it was cooked - YUCK! It was really bitter! So I took as much as I could find out of my veggie soup but it did leave a taste in my soup that I am not sure I can deal with! I will try it again today.

I am discovering all sorts of great ways to prepare eggplant and that was a veggie I used to dislike!

Mostly what I hope to achieve here is to eat only healthy choices - right now I am making that transition and once established with the right foods, then I will look at quantities. Extra weight really does equal eating too much - plain and simple. So I will gradually reduce the quantity and add exercise - oops - did I say that word? Add walking and other good for my body movement - and together I hope to see a healthier me. That really should include weight loss as a by-product - don't you think?

Waiting for weather to change

Ok - so I am a wimp! I confess - walking has noit happened since this nasty wet and freezing weather moved into Austin. This would be a great time to own a treadmill - but I am guessing it would go the way of the Ab-lounger - sit in my living room unused!

I am actually looking forward to it warming up a bit - I miss my walk and want to get back on track!
